Khalla خلى
The Verb خلى the type of verb that contains a vowel which makes it part of the Defective Verbs الافعال الناقصة
While technically the names and classifications differ from one grammar book to another, this is how I would go about classifying the verbs that have 3 letter root.
Simple root: where the root does not contain a vowel.
An example would be:
he played ( لعب )
Incomplete: that contains a vowel. which you can subcategorize it into 3 types depending on whether the vowel is the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd letter.
An example would be:
he promised وعد
he said قال
he woke up صحي
lastly, we have the repeated type. which as the name suggests the 2nd and 3rd letters are the same.
An example would be:
he jumped نطّ ( the shadda on top of the ط indicates that the letter is repeated)
