Let’s elevate your game with expressions that are actually used by Arabs today!
Starting easy with زي الناس
break it down: زي means like/similar, الناس means people.
The literal meaning of the phrase is “like people”.
The actual meaning is “properly”
Usually, we use this expression with orders, but not exclusively so.

Examples:
1)Do the dishes properly!
نضف الصحون زي الناس
You don’t need the word properly in the sentnece to translate it to “زي الناس”
2)Set up straight and eat your dinner.
أقعد زي الناس و كل أكلك.
When it is not an order.
3) I want a decent salary.
بدي راتب زي الناس
!يا ريت
I hope/wish. please.
sometimes you might see it with a “lam”, ( يا ليت) but those people are the ones who put milk first before cereal.
Examples:
1) I wish I studied harder.
يا ريت لو درست منيح
2) I hope that it does not rain tomorrow.
يا ريت لو ما تمطر بكرة
3) would you please bring me the salt.
يا ريت لو تجيبلي الملح
شايف حاله
Arrogant
شايف meaning “seeing” حاله means
You have to conjugate the verb ” شايف” to the subject.
Examples:
1) Dont be too cocky about it, it was luck.
ما تشوف حالك, كان حظ.
2) I dont like them they are arrogants.
انا ما بحبهم هم شايفين حالهم
You can also make it as an adjective.
3) Being arrogant is not a good trait.
شوفة الحال شغله صفة مش منيحة
